MEET BEVERLY

I specialize in supporting students at transitional moments: applying to college, transferring schools, or returning after time away. My approach is personal, honest, and rooted in meaningful and productive experiences.

I’ve been guiding students to and through their college journeys for over 30 years. My perspective is unique since I advised hundreds of new college students at Colgate University as their dean and followed that up with a decade at Manchester Essex Regional High School as the director of guidance and college counseling. I guess you could say I’ve been on both sides of the equation. I understand the full academic arc—from high school to college graduation. I help students find their own unique path—and help them walk it with confidence

Beverly holds her M.Ed. from the University of South Carolina and a B.A. in English from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Upon receiving two midterm reports, confirming that I was under-performing in my first semester at Colgate, Bev responded with warmth and understanding.  She didn’t judge or scold, she related to me as an adult, validated and reinforced that I was smart and that I belonged.  She didn't "prescribe" an off-the-shelf resolution, rather, we worked together to understand my situation and the bottlenecks that were holding me back from excelling - much of which really lay beyond the mastery of note-taking or research skills.  It was much more about adapting, learning the beginnings of "balance" in my own way, and having the confidence to ask questions and seek help - a hard thing to do in a competitive academic environment.  As I developed academically, Bev encouraged me to seek leadership roles outside the classroom and I ultimately graduated from Colgate with Honors in Sociology, as captain of the women's basketball team, and as a member of her peer mentor staff.
